Your team. One continuous relay. A summit worth reaching.
Take turns ascending the upper-tier steps at Principality Stadium until your team has climbed the equivalent vertical height of Mount Everest. The challenge is simple: work together to conquer 8,848 metres of vertical ascent by repeatedly climbing the stadium steps. One teammate climbs at a time, with each ascent bringing your team closer to the summit.
It will test your endurance, teamwork and determination. But the reward is far greater than reaching the top — every team is helping make a difference to people and families affected by cancer.
* Approximately 447 ascents are anticipated, subject to final stadium measurements.
The Maxwell Everest Challenge is about more than physical endurance it's about making a lasting difference for people and families affected by cancer. Through the Maxwell Family Genomics Fund, we are determined to help provide earlier diagnoses, better treatment options, and greater hope for the future.

The challenge takes place on 27 February at Principality Stadium, Cardiff. Teams will be climbing the stadium's upper tier infrastructure steps under full event supervision.
Corporate and charity teams can consist of between three and eight participants. One member climbs at a time in a continuous relay format.
Each participating team commits to a minimum fundraising target of £5,000 for the Maxwell Family Fund, supporting vital cancer diagnosis research across Wales.
Teams manage their own rotation. One teammate ascends the designated stadium stair block while others rest and prepare at the relay station, maintaining a continuous track loop.
Full event inductions, medical safety presence, and structured step lanes are provided. Proper footwear is mandatory, and running down the steps is strictly prohibited.
Timings vary based on team size and pace, but teams should prepare for a multi-hour endurance effort to successfully cross the 8,848m target elevation line.
Not at all! While good general fitness helps, the relay format allows team members to pace themselves according to their own ability levels.
